One of the most sought-after food items at Walt Disney World is the iconic Dole Whip. We get quite a few questions about Dole Whips here and on Facebook, so I thought I’d post this quick rundown of what you need to know about Dole Whips including where to find a Dole Whip at Disney World…
What is a Dole Whip?
A Dole Whip is a soft-serve, dairy-free frozen dessert that has gained iconic status among snack lovers and theme park goers alike. Originally developed by the Dole Food Company in 1986, this creamy, pineapple-flavored treat was introduced to the public at the Dole Plantation in Hawaii and at Disney parks, where it quickly became a must-have for visitors. What sets a Dole Whip apart from other frozen desserts is its unique texture and flavor. Made from a blend of natural flavorings and fruit puree, it achieves a smooth and airy consistency that’s both refreshing and satisfying without the use of dairy products, making it a popular choice for those with lactose intolerance or vegan dietary preferences.
The classic Dole Whip is best known for its bright, tropical pineapple flavor, offering a taste of Hawaiian paradise in every spoonful. Over the years, the popularity of the original pineapple Dole Whip has inspired the introduction of additional flavors, such as mango, strawberry, and lemon, catering to a wider range of taste preferences. Served on its own, swirled with another flavor, or even floating in pineapple juice for a Dole Whip Float, this frozen dessert has transcended its snack status to become a cultural phenomenon, symbolizing joy, nostalgia, and the simple pleasure of a sweet, icy treat on a warm day.
Dole Whips with Alcohol at Disney World
An adult version of the Dole Whip, called Captain Pineapple or Spikey Pineapple was introduced to Disney World in 2017. Captain Pineapple combines a Dole Whip and Rum, while the Spikey Pineapple combines a Dole Whip with Brabancourt Pango Rum.
