‘Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln’ Makes Triumphant Return to Disneyland

The legendary stage presentation Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln has officially re-opened at Disneyland Park, marking a heartfelt nod to the park’s historic roots. After a hiatus that began on April 16 2024, the show returned to the famed Main Street U.S.A. Opera House in late October 2025.

Originally debuting at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and then opening at Disneyland in 1965, the Lincoln tribute has been a cornerstone of Audio-Animatronic storytelling. Its latest return comes as part of a fresh chapter: The Opera House will eventually host a rotating presentation, sharing time between the Lincoln show and the newer Walt Disney – A Magical Life, which premiered July 17 2025 for the resort’s 70th anniversary. Great Moments appears to be the only show playing for the time being though.

Guests entering the Opera House lobby will once again encounter the iconic silhouette of Abraham Lincoln, the stirring historic film pre-show, and the moment when the figure rises from his chair to deliver a powerful address on liberty and democracy. Although the set remains largely unchanged from previous incarnations, Imagineers have adapted the stage with a modern turntable system that allows swift transitions between the two shows.

Cast members say the Lincoln show returned partially in response to technical issues with the new Walt Disney figure, but the situation has delighted longtime fans who had wondered if Lincoln’s moment in the spotlight was finished. With the return secured, Disney has reaffirmed that Great Moments will become a regular fixture alongside its newer sibling-so expect more of those “great moments” to come.
