moana 2Disney’s “Moana 2” has set a new benchmark for Walt Disney Animation Studios, amassing $13.8 million during its Tuesday preview screenings.

This achievement marks the highest pre-Thanksgiving preview earnings for the studio and ranks as the second-largest preview haul for any animated film, following Pixar’s “Incredibles 2,” which garnered $18.5 million.

The sequel is projected to dominate the Thanksgiving box office, with estimates suggesting a five-day opening between $125 million and $135 million. Such figures would surpass the previous Thanksgiving record held by “Frozen II,” which earned $125 million over the same period.

“Moana 2” continues the journey of the titular character, voiced by Auliʻi Cravalho, as she embarks on a new oceanic adventure alongside the demigod Maui, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson. The film introduces fresh musical compositions by Grammy Award-winning duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, succeeding Lin-Manuel Miranda’s work from the original.
