Who is 2-1B?
2-1B is a fictional character from the Star Wars franchise. He is a droid (robot) medical assistant who first appears in the 1980 film “The Empire Strikes Back.” 2-1B is a tall, white-colored droid with a cylindrical head, and is designed to assist in medical procedures. He is seen working on Luke Skywalker’s injuries after his duel with Darth Vader on Cloud City, and later on, assist in the rebuilding of Luke’s hand. He also appears in the later films “Return of the Jedi“, “The Phantom Menace” and “Revenge of the Sith” and in the Star Wars expanded universe media. The 2-1B droid is a model that belongs to the 2-1 series of medical droids that are used in the Star Wars universe. The character was played by Randy Thom.
