Who is Maz Kanata?
Maz Kanata is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. She is a diminutive, wise and goggle-wearing alien who runs a cantina on the planet Takodana. Maz plays a small but significant role in the sequels The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, providing guidance to the film’s protagonists and helping them in their fight against the First Order. The character was played by Lupita Nyong’o.
