Who is Marlin?

Marlin is a central character in Disney-Pixar’s animated films Finding Nemo (2003) and its sequel, Finding Dory (2016). He is a clownfish who resides in the Great Barrier Reef and is best known for his overprotective and cautious nature, stemming from the loss of his mate, Coral, and nearly all their eggs to a predator. His one surviving child, Nemo, becomes the center of Marlin’s world, leading him to be overly protective, often to Nemo’s frustration.

In Finding Nemo, Marlin embarks on a perilous journey across the ocean to rescue Nemo, who is captured by scuba divers and placed in a fish tank at a dentist’s office. Along the way, Marlin learns to face his fears and trust his son’s abilities, showcasing his transformation from a nervous, overbearing parent to a loving father who embraces life’s uncertainties.

In Finding Dory, Marlin continues to play a significant role, helping Dory, his forgetful blue tang friend, search for her long-lost family.

Marlin was voiced by Albert Brooks, a renowned actor and comedian known for his wit and dry humor, which perfectly encapsulated the character’s mix of anxiety and heartfelt determination.
