Who is Pocahontas?
Who is Pocahontas?Pocahontas is a fictional character and the titular protagonist of Disney’s 1995 animated feature film of the same name. She is a member of the Powhatan tribe, the daughter of Chief Powhatan, and the love interest of the English colonist John Smith. The character is loosely based on the historical figure of the same name, a Native American woman who lived in the early 17th century in the area that is now Virginia. The film is a retelling of the famous historical story of Pocahontas and her relationship with John Smith and the English settlers, but with significant changes to the historical events and characters for entertainment and dramatization purposes. She was voiced by actress Irene Bedard and her singing voice was provided by singer Judy Kuhn.
