Who is Mater?
Mater, also known as Tow Mater, is a fictional character from the 2006 animated film Cars and its sequels Cars 2 and Cars 3, produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by John Lasseter.
Mater, voiced by actor Larry the Cable Guy, is a rusty, old tow truck and is the best friend of the protagonist, Lightning McQueen. He is known for his simple-minded, down-home, and lovable personality, as well as his humorous and sometimes risqué jokes and catchphrases. He is also known for his loyalty and friendship to McQueen and his love for rusty American cars.
Mater is a comic relief character and his role in the movie is to provide humor and to teach McQueen important life lessons.
