Sheriff Woody is the legendary heart and soul of the Disney/Pixar Toy Story franchise. A pull-string cowboy doll with a “snake in his boot” and a heart of gold, Woody has spent decades teaching fans that the most important thing a toy can be is “there for his kid.”
Toy Story 5: The “Reunion” Mission (2026)
Coming to theaters on June 19, 2026, Toy Story 5 brings Woody back into the fold. While Toy Story 4 saw him depart to lead a life as a “Lost Toy” with Bo Peep, the new film—directed by Andrew Stanton—features a plot where technology becomes the ultimate villain. Woody must reunite with Buzz and Jessie to save Bonnie’s toys from the distraction of Lilypad, a high-tech smart tablet that is siphoning away all the playtime attention.
Where to Find Woody in 2026
Sheriff Woody remains one of the most sought-after characters for photos and autographs. Here is his current schedule:
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: You can find Woody daily in Toy Story Land near the entrance to Toy Story Mania!. He often meets alongside Jessie the Cowgirl.
- Roundup Rodeo BBQ: While he doesn’t visit tables (this is not a character meal), you’ll hear his voice and see his “handiwork” throughout this family-style BBQ restaurant. Listen for the “Andy’s Coming!” announcement where everyone in the restaurant must freeze!
- Magic Kingdom (Coming Summer 2026): As part of the “Cool Kids’ Summer” event, Woody will make rare appearances in Frontierland for a limited-time “Jessie’s Roundup” character greeting.
Tom Hanks and the Legacy of the Cowboy
In April 2025, Tom Hanks shared his “first day of work” back in Studio B for Toy Story 5, confirming his return. His performance continues to provide the moral compass for the series, ensuring Woody remains an icon of loyalty and friendship for new generations of “honorary toys.”
