Wurlitzer Music Hall | Disneyland

Last Updated on: March 26th, 2024

The Wurlitzer Music Hall at Disneyland was a distinct and memorable attraction located on Main Street USA. From its opening in July 1955 until its closure in September 1968, the Music Hall offered guests an immersive musical experience in a prime corner location. This space, now occupied by the Disney Showcase, was once a showroom where visitors could admire and potentially plan to purchase pianos and organs showcased by the renowned musical instrument company, Wurlitzer.

The Wurlitzer Music Hall wasn’t just a traditional retail space; it was a glamorous showroom that displayed beautiful musical instruments. Guests interested in these instruments could not purchase them directly at the park but could explore the possibilities for future acquisitions. This unique attraction also featured models displaying upcoming Disneyland projects, from Space Mountain to the never-built Discovery Bay, giving guests a sneak peek into the future of the park.

As the 1960s came to a close, the landscape of Main Street USA began to shift away from unconventional shops like the Wurlitzer Music Hall to more branded retail spaces catering to a broader audience. This transition marked the end of an era for the Music Hall, which closed to make way for new retail experiences that targeted a wider range of park visitors.

The legacy of the Wurlitzer Music Hall is a testament to the diverse and ever-changing attractions that have graced Disneyland over the years, offering guests unique experiences that extend beyond rides and character meet-and-greets. The Music Hall’s unique focus on musical instruments and its role in showcasing future park projects made it a memorable part of Disneyland’s history.
