Who is Rafiki?

Rafiki is a fictional character from the Disney animated feature film The Lion King (1994) and its franchise.

Rafiki is a mandrill and a wise old baboon who serves as a mentor and advisor to Simba, the lion prince. He is known for his wise and spiritual nature, as well as his deep understanding of the “circle of life”. He is the one who presents Simba to the animal kingdom and shows him the importance of taking his rightful place as king.

Rafiki is also known for his iconic stick, his distinctive red fur, and his catchphrase “Asante sana, squash banana!” which means “Thank you very much, squash banana!” in Swahili. He was voiced by veteran actor Robert Guillaume.
