Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Performing Well at the Box Office
Published on 5/30/17 by Craig Smith
As I do with most new Disney movie releases, the purpose of this post is to track the box office performance (domestic and global) of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. We’ll start here with its opening weekend performance and I’ll be adding weekly updates as more totals are reported.
Variety is reporting that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales earned $78.2 million domestically this past weekend, bringing its total box office tally (domestic + global) to $326 million.
Also worth noting, is that this weekend’s take for Pirates and Guardians of the Galaxy pushed Disney across the $3 billion mark for 2017. Not a bad followup so far to last year’s amazing $7 billion year.
Update 6/5/17: Pirates part 5 crossed the important $500 million mark this weekend, now sitting at $501.2 million total, which places it #6 this year in terms of revenue. This performance, along Guardians Vol 2, pushed Disney to $3.21 billion globally for 2017. No bad considering, they still have the latest Cars and Spiderman sequels and another Star Wars blockbuster, among others, on the docket for the second half of the year.
More to come next week…
