Carousel of Progress | Disneyland

Last Updated on: March 26th, 2024

The Carousel of Progress is an iconic attraction that was originally located at Disneyland in California. It was created by Walt Disney himself and made its debut at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair before being moved to Disneyland.

The Carousel of Progress is a rotating theater that showcases the progress of technology and everyday life throughout the 20th century. Guests sit in a circular theater that rotates around different scenes, each representing a different era, starting from the turn of the century and progressing through the decades.

As the theater rotates, an audio-animatronic family, the “Progressland” family, provides a lighthearted and educational narrative about the advancements in technology that have improved everyday life over the years. The scenes highlight innovations such as home appliances, communication devices, and entertainment technology.

The attraction features a catchy theme song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” written by the Sherman Brothers.

I started this site when I came to the realization that I spent a significant portion of my day reading articles about Disney and watching Disney content with my 8-year old, so it made sense that I would start sharing some of what I read and see and building a little community around it.
