Disney, ABC & ESPN Officially Return to YouTube TV After New Multi-Year Deal
Published on 11/14/25 by Craig Smith
After a frustrating blackout that left millions of subscribers without access to major Disney-owned channels, Disney and Google have officially reached a new agreement to restore ABC, ESPN, FX, National Geographic, Freeform, Disney Channel, and more to YouTube TV. The channels returned immediately following the announcement, ending a standoff that began on October 30, 2025, when the previous carriage deal expired.
During the blackout, YouTube TV subscribers lost access to several live events-most notably ESPN programming, local ABC broadcasts, and a number of primetime shows across Disney’s networks. The outage arrived during a high-stakes time of year, overlapping with college football, Monday Night Football, and the start of the holiday TV season.
The newly negotiated deal is described as a multi-year agreement that restores not only the live channels but also previously recorded DVR programs that were temporarily inaccessible due to the dispute. According to both companies, the restored programming includes the “full suite” of Disney networks, ensuring that subscribers once again have access to the complete lineup featured on YouTube TV prior to the disruption.
Industry analysts note that the blackout reflected larger industry-wide tensions as content providers push for higher carriage fees while streaming platforms attempt to keep subscription prices stable. Disney’s channels are among the most-watched on YouTube TV, and the platform has relied heavily on ESPN to draw sports-driven audiences.
With the agreement finalized, YouTube TV subscribers can now stream Disney’s networks again just in time for major sports weekends, new fall episodes, and holiday programming. Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the deal, but both emphasized their commitment to keeping popular content available to viewers.
For subscribers who rely on YouTube TV for live sports, local news, and Disney’s entertainment catalog, today’s resolution brings welcome relief-ending a two-week content blackout and restoring one of the service’s most essential channel lineups.
