Park History
Disney California Adventure Park first opened its gates to the public on February 8, 2001. It was part of a significant expansion of the Disneyland Resort, which also included the addition of the Downtown Disney District and three new hotels. Cars Land: Inspired by the Disney-Pixar film “Cars,” this land immerses guests in the town of Radiator Springs. Iconic attractions include Radiator Springs Racers, a thrilling race through the scenic landscape, and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, a family-friendly spinning ride.
Pixar Pier: Formerly known as Paradise Pier, this area was reimagined as Pixar Pier, featuring beloved characters and stories from Pixar Animation Studios. It offers attractions like the Incredicoaster, themed dining options, and the Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris wheel.
Grizzly Peak: Inspired by California’s natural wonders, Grizzly Peak celebrates the beauty of the state’s national parks and forests. Highlights include Grizzly River Run, a whitewater rafting adventure, and Soarin’ Over California, a breathtaking simulated hang-gliding experience.
Pacific Wharf: This area represents California’s coastal regions and offers a variety of dining options showcasing the state’s diverse cuisine. Guests can enjoy freshly baked bread at the famous Boudin Bakery or savor a meal at the popular Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill.
