Who is Eeyore?
Eeyore is a beloved character from A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh series, known for his endearing pessimism and iconic, droopy expression. A donkey who resides in the Hundred Acre Wood, Eeyore is famously glum and constantly losing his tail, which his friends repeatedly reattach with a pin.
Despite his gloomy outlook, Eeyore has a gentle and loyal nature, and his friends, including Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger, care for him deeply, often trying to cheer him up. His understated humor and melancholy charm add a unique flavor to the series, making him a fan favorite across generations.
In the world of Disney adaptations, Eeyore has been voiced by multiple actors, each bringing their own nuances to his distinctive, slow, and resigned voice. The first voice actor to bring Eeyore to life for Disney was Ralph Wright, who voiced him in the original Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree (1966) and continued until Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (1974). Later, the role was taken on by Ron Gans, Peter Cullen, and Gregg Berger in various adaptations. Most recently, voice actor Brad Garrett provided Eeyore’s voice in Christopher Robin (2018), continuing the character’s legacy.
