TRON: Ares Overlay Transforms TRON Lightcycle / Run at Disney World

Destination D23 recap day 1Disney fans visiting Magic Kingdom today are getting a whole new experience on one of the park’s most high-tech attractions. TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially launched its TRON: Ares overlay, transforming the ride from its familiar blue grid into a fiery red and orange digital battleground inspired by the upcoming film TRON: Ares.

The updated experience brings striking new visuals and soundscapes to the coaster. Throughout the ride, guests will notice dramatic red lighting effects replacing the signature neon blue, immersing them in the world of Ares, the powerful program set to headline the new movie. To make the update even more impactful, the overlay features an original soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails, adding a high-energy edge to the already intense ride.

The overlay is part of Disney’s broader promotional push for TRON: Ares, which arrives in theaters on October 10, 2025. The limited-time transformation at Walt Disney World is mirrored at Shanghai Disneyland, which begins its version of the overlay on September 16.

Fans of the TRON franchise and thrill seekers alike will not want to miss this temporary update. It’s a rare chance to see a marquee Disney attraction reimagined in sync with a major film release.
