While some pretty dramatic overhauls were being announced for Disney World at the D23 Expo, its West Coast older sibling, Disneyland had some news breaking of its own.  Here is a rundown of the Disneyland changes that were announced yesterday:

Upcoming Disneyland Changes:

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Yes, in addition to having a very detailed model of the new Star Wars Land, we now know the 14 acre park area’s official name.  Galaxy’s Edge will include two anchor rides- an immersive battle scene between the Resistance and the First Order and the Millennium Falcon, which you will have the chance to take the controls and “fly” the iconic ship. Current Hollywood Studios’ Star Was residents BB-8, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren will relocate from Launch Bay (which presumably will be moved) to Galaxy’s Edge and they will be joined by Rex, who will be the DJ at a new cantina in the land.

Here is a pretty awesome first-person video tour of the scale model of Galaxy’s Edge, which was also released today:

More information about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can be found in my post from earlier this week including a video of the display model Disney has created and photos.

Pixar Fest: Disney will be launching a new limited-time celebration at Disneyland about all things Pixar in 2018. Among the festivities of Pixar Fest will be special characters, experiences and a new fireworks spectacular.

Pixar Pier: Paradise Pier will be transformed into an homage to some of Pixar’s most beloved movies. While this project announcement was a bit short on details, we know that it will open in 2018 during Pixar Fest.

Parade Moves: It was announced that the Pixar Play Parade will return to Disneyland and the Paint the Night parade will shift to Disney California Adventure.

Marvel Super Hero Universe: Disney is planning on building off of the enormous success of the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction, by creating an entire new Marvel land at Disney’s California Adventure. While there wasn’t a great deal of detail included in the Super Hero universe announcement, we did learn that the new land will include Spider-Man and the Avengers in some fashion. I am sure we will be hearing lots more about this one for months to come.
