Disney’s Big Plans for America’s 250th Anniversary: What You Need to Know

Published on 10/21/25 by Craig Smith

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, The Walt Disney Company is going all out with an expansive, cross-platform event titled Disney Celebrates America. Running from Veterans Day 2025 through July 4, 2026, this initiative honors the nation’s semiquincentennial with brand-new experiences at the parks, special programming across Disney+, ABC, and Hulu, and a renewed spotlight on the country’s history and ideals.

The biggest park addition is Soarin’ Across America, debuting in summer 2026 at EPCOT and Disney California Adventure. This refreshed version of the fan-favorite ride replaces Soarin’ Around the World with a coast-to-coast flight over U.S. landmarks—from the Statue of Liberty to Yosemite and beyond—set to a reimagined patriotic score. Meanwhile, both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will host synchronized Fourth of July fireworks as part of a 24-hour, multi-network broadcast spanning Disney+, ESPN, National Geographic, and more.

The company is also pledging $2.5 million in new support for veterans through Blue Star Families, expanding its long-standing partnerships that help service members transition to civilian careers.

But Disney’s celebration of America runs deeper than just this anniversary—it’s part of a legacy that dates back decades. During the nation’s Bicentennial in 1976, Disney World’s America on Parade featured nearly 50 floats depicting key moments in U.S. history, from the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Apollo moon landing.

That same patriotic spirit lives within Disney’s theme parks. Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom remains a tribute to the Colonial era, anchored by The Hall of Presidents, where every U.S. president comes to life through groundbreaking Audio-Animatronics. Over at Disneyland, Walt’s Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln—originally created for the 1964 New York World’s Fair—showcased Disney’s early innovation in blending technology and national pride.

At EPCOT, The American Adventure Pavilion has carried the torch since 1982, using film, music, and lifelike animatronics to tell the nation’s story through the voices of Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain.

From those early attractions to the upcoming Soarin’ Across America, Disney’s tribute to the United States has evolved—but the message remains timeless: celebrating innovation, diversity, and the enduring spirit of the American dream.

As the 250th anniversary approaches, one thing’s certain—Disney’s celebration will once again remind guests that the magic of America’s story is worth retelling.
