Updated 4/17/16:

The opening weekend estimations are in and opening night clearly wasn’t a fluke for “The Jungle Book.” Multiple news outlets are reporting that it is estimated to take in $103 million in the US and close to $300 million globally. Pretty impressive start to 2016 for Disney.

BoxOffice Pro is reporting that Disney’s “The Jungle Book” took in $4.2 million on Thursday (opening) night. This is a very strong number for the first night. To put this total in perspective, it is roughly the same amount that “Maleficant” gained on opening night in 2014.

This news comes in after reports that “The Jungle Book” had an excellent opening day in China. More updates to come soon!
